Conditions
The agreement provides access to 8 BMJ journals and the possibility to publish on Open access in hybrid and Full Open Access journals, without any APCs (Article Processing Charges).
Eligible authors

All corresponding authors affiliated and in service at University of Trieste on the date of article acceptance are eligible.

Corresponding authors on a fixed-term contract are eligible too: PhD students, postdocs and research assistants, interns in medicine, adjunct professors and so on.

Open Access pubblication is possible only after verification of the affiliation of the corresponding author by the Approval Manager of the contract.

CC-BY license is recommended.

On some journals articles are published only under CC-BY-NC 4.0. license.

Limits and exclusions

The agreement covers APCs for Fully Open Access journals up to the nationally limited annual cap, to be shared among all CARE-CRUI participating institutions. 

Indicatively, in 2024 the national cap for Fully Open Access journals was not exhausted.

In case the cap is exhausted it will be possible to publish the article only by covering the costs at one's own expense.

There are no funding limits for publishing open access articles in hybrid journals.

Other publication costs such as submission fees, color pages and overlength pages fees, etc. are excluded

Green Open Access
Authors may deposit the Author’s Accepted Manuscript (AAM) version of articles not covered by the contract in their institutional repository or personal website and make it freely accessible provided that
  • a link to the version published on the BMJ platform and the following text are included: “This article has been accepted for publication in [insert journal, volume, issue] following peer review and the editorial version is available online at [insert full DOI, e.g. http://dx.doi.org/xx.xxxx/xxxxx]. © Authors [insert year]”;
  • if the article is withdrawn or a statement of dissent or a significant correction to the version of the article published by BMJ is published, a link to the notice published by BMJ is stated and included;
  • all BMJ trademarks (and co-ownership trademarks where present) are removed.
